The US has got to get its passenger rail act into gear.
It all began with the unique Shinkansen system!
Actually, they can reach 390 km/h as conventional trains.

Siemens recent success for selling high speed rail systems directly stems from adopitng to Japanese EMU Shinkansen system.
The only problem is that the video shows the trains zipping by far faster than 350km/h. I’ve stood near one traveling at 300km/h (and there are many videos) and while it is impressive, the train takes a few seconds to go past. They show it flashing past in less than one second.
It’s fast, but not THAT fast.
