    Hi.
Could you tell me if room monitoring is turned on, can you still receive calls?

  2. CHfondue says:

High Definition Sound Performance is for VOIP only and requires that both users have a HDSP capable phone. Since I do not use my phone over IP and don’t know anyone who has a HDSP-phone, I can’t comment on the sound quality of VOIP calls.

  3. iosonogio says:

Thanks, just looking at the energy saving features, looks like the S795 has more power saving ?
How does the HDSP perform ?
    thank you for advises!

  4. CHfondue says:

The S795 screen size is 128×160 pixels, 1,8”, 65000 colors versus the SL785 with 240×320 pixels, 2,2”, 256K colors. They are not in the same league, the SL785 being the premium phone.

  5. iosonogio says:

    Thanks for your review!
How do you compare this to the Gigaset S795 model ?

  6. lewko1 says:

    Jiggaset FTW!

  7. CHfondue says:

Correct. The updated Quicksync software supports Mac OS 10.6. Sadly, firmware updates still require Windows.

  8. ub8jayuk says:

Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard is now supported

  9. stopmakingthatnoise says:

Hi, I just bought this phone yesterday, and am very happy with it. However, I notice the backlight on your is blue, but mine is an orange colour. Do you know if it’s possible to change it?

  10. CHfondue says:

Since July 2009 the gigaset blog has a link to Gigaset Quicksync for Mac, which enables sync of contacts over bluetooth between a SL785 phone and a Mac. Apparently it is not yet compatible with Mac 10.6. snow leopard.

Thank you so much for your quick reaction. But my provider already supports and my previous set from Philips was displaying Caller ID. Nothing has changed. I just switched from Philips to Siemens. Any other explaination??

  12. CHfondue says:

Page 28 of the manual: Your telephone network provider needs to support (and you may need to ask them to switch it on) both CLI (Calling Line Identification) and CLIP (Calling Line Identification Presentation). Works on my phone fine except if the caller supresses their own number.

  13. akhtarameen51 says:

Just bought the set. Cannot figure out how to turn on the Caller ID. Does it have Caller ID??? When I recieve calls it only displays “External” even if the numbers with names are already in it’s phonebook. Please advise.

    great review!

  15. CHfondue says:

    There is no vibrate function.

  16. Worldmountboy says:

    excellent presentation !

  17. kmne11528 says:

I really like this phone but does it have a vibrate function? I usually have headphones on when working in my studio and this feature would be a godsend.

  18. mischa0320 says:

Great review! My compliments from the Netherlands!

  19. smithgear says:

Thank you for the fantastic, honest review!

  20. CHfondue says:

The handset does not stand up by itself. The docing station is required for this.
(I’ll comment on the speaker quality later)

  21. jsehrlich says:

Does the handset stand up by itself (without being in the stand)? I would like to stick it on a desk or table and not have it fall over. How is the speakerphone (volume, quality, etc).

  22. fiorinovalentucci says:

Thanks a lot for the review, it’s just perfect! :)

  23. CHfondue says:

The background music is The Rainbow (Solo – Piano Version) by Ketil Bjørnstad on his album “Floating”

  24. johnnysally1 says:

excellent!…What is the name of background music?

  25. CHfondue says:

Had to get replacement for the base station, as the handsets could no longer be registered to the base station = equipment failure.
