I saw the display at bestbuy about a week ago on a samsung led tv, (not sure which one) and they showed the monsters vs aliens movie and the 3d was AWESOME!!!!!!!! i watched about the 1st 10 minutes of the film. it actually pops out of the screen like in the movie theater!!!!!!!! So cool buy this!

I tested this out at Bestbuy, which I highly suggest you do the same before you drop $4000 on this whole setup. I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the 3D. It was a Samsung with Monsters vs. aliens. The 3D had nowhere near the depth that Avatar did. In fact, I had a tough time even finding any type of 3D effect, and I sat there for about 15 minutes.

I knew SOMEthing was happening, because when I took the glasses off it was a little blurry. The only problem was, when I put the glasses back on it just looked like a 2D picture to me! I enjoy technology and sat there for a while, trying to convince myself certain aspects looked 3D. It was when I was driving back home that I finally realized that for $4000 I wanted a mini Avatar like 3D at least, where you can see things jump off the screen at least to SOME extent.

Maybe cable TV will prove different. The World Cup is set to be broadcast in 3D. I’ll definitely try it out, but until I test it somewhere and it proves better than this Monsters v Aliens Samsung thing, I’m not buying.

I just purchased this item along with a Samsung UN55C7000 and a Samsung BD-C6900. Let me just say, it’s amazing. It came with a free movie, Monsters vs Aliens. The movie looks amazing on the TV.

The glasses didn’t need any pairing or calibration as some people claim that it needs. It’s just as simple as turning on the glasses. The 3D quality is top notch, however I’ve experienced a few ‘glitches’ so far. During different parts of the movie, I’ll notice a 3D shadow of whatever item is on the screen. For example, in the beginning of the movie there is a church in a scene. The image of the church felt like as if the glasses weren’t working correctly. The 3D was working, but it felt like it wasn’t a clear 3D picture. Let me try to explain it a little different. You know when you have a 3D movie on the screen without the glasses? How you can see a blur of an image all together for each eye? When you put on the glasses, that image becomes one right? Well, imagine that image not coming together 100%. Having an “edge” of a blur and that’s the issue I’m experiencing.

I’ve tried the other set of glasses only to have the same outcome. I’ve called Samsung to troubleshoot my issue and considering it’s a new product, they said they have to call me back in 24-48 hours to see what’s wrong. Oddly enough, I went to a local Best Buy and tried the exact same setup, except this time using the Rechargeable Samsung glasses, rather than the battery operated ones I have. I didn’t experience the same issue. I’ve tried shifting settings around on both the TV and the Bluray player and have yet to get a fix for it. I’ll update this post as more information comes.
