    @newgeolem

    lets you do anything to your droid really like install new software like multitouch or the nexus one software

  9. go4it7arh says:

    @newgeolem gives you root access. it means you’re like the system administrator and can do whatever the fuck you want with it (since it runs linux) where before, you couldn’t do much

  10. newgeolem says:

    whats this thing do ” root”

  11. acurac32a says:

    and in my first attempt to root it I succeeded, but then I bricked it by flashing the rom with a faulty image, I may have even cried a little when that happened but i was smart enough to back it all up first, I fixed it looked online some more and found that app I mentioned before. and here I am with a mean ass Droid, multi tasking like a mother. others put in the work, all we have to do is read and give those hard working guys the respect they deserve

  12. acurac32a says:

    do some research before you root. and if you don’t know what root is and do it anyway based on what some other guy told you in a forum. then don’t cry when you brick the thing. oh yeah and maybe you should keep that brick so you don’t mess it up for the rest of us. Sorry if i sound like an asshole but I have had my Droid for under a month, but when I finally got it, I knew exactly what to do with it, I spent 2 months drooling over the phone and reading about Android OS and how to Jailbreak it

  13. acurac32a says:

    I was just thinking that maybe I should stop telling people how easy it is to root the Droid, it’s like telling a newbie driver how to double clutch, i’m sure somethings gonna break in the process. and whats to stop the phone companies from changing their minds about Android OS after they see how many of the returned on warranty phones where actually bricked because newbies with rooted phones didn’t know what they were doing.

  14. acurac32a says:

    for the most part you are correct, except when it comes to multi touch, you have to root the Droid to get this feature. I take droid over iPhone any day, iPhone is like a stock mac, Android is like Fedora 10 with Compiz

  15. acurac32a says:

    if you named the file update.zip your droid will really read it as update.zip.zip it wont say it on the screen when loading, just name it update. this is a problem that comes up when computer wizards try to explain things in a simple manner and they end up messing up with something simple. and the rest of the site just copy and paste

    got this from a wiki, it simplifies any answer that I can give you, Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second) than specified by the manufacturer, usually practiced by enthusiasts seeking an increase in the performance of their computers. overclock high-end components to attain levels of performance beyond the specified values

  17. white0nerdy says:

    @acurac32a whats overclocking?

  18. acurac32a says:

    hey CoolPsTuts how much to turn me into a cool avatar?

  19. acurac32a says:

    actually, there is an easier way to root the droid. go to the android market download an app called sholesmod updater and follow the steps. not only do you root the droid but you can also overclock, flash the rom, change to a better theme, add multi touch and a few other cool stuff all with just one app it wont hurt to get a terminal emulator eather I run better terminal emulator

  23. nissanpimpsa says:
